I just bought the plugin myself.  The registered copy hasn't given me any
problems at all.  The demo, which I had been using for the last month or so,
occasionally gave me trouble.  Basically, Quicktime would start within a web
page and then suddenly dissappear, leaving an empty white square where the
movie should be.  However, reloading the web page usually got around the
problem.  I haven't had that happen with the registered version.  Also, the
only limitation of the demo is that an annoying little pop-up would
periodically appear over the playing video.  It shouldn't disable after a
certain number of uses, because it never did for me :P.
I'm currently using Gentoo with kernel 2.4.17 (with the preempt patch, among
others).  I use both Galeon and Mozilla and the plug-in works without a
problem in each.
