This might be the same thing I experienced when I tried to install
OS 2/2.0 on my 486slc laptop (had 8 mb ram/60 mb hard drive). The
system thought that it was installed on a real 486 dx system, and had
problems with entering either dos or windows mode -- both caused the system
to hang.
I'm not sure that cyrix has the intel architecture down pat yet...
