 Flame me if I am out-of-date, but I think that "Z" and "M" options do
not work *togheter*. This was because tar simply pipe the archive thru
"compress" or "gzip", and when the firt volume is full you get a "broken
pipe" or similar error.
 By the way... is the idea of compressing a multi-volume backup safe? Just
*one* bit messed up, and you loose your backup.
