Selling my semi-new project PC.

I tested the waters on this back in October, and I do need to sell it. I'd rather give it to (and deal with) one of you than some random craiglist person, so I'm putting it up here first. Without a way to see what's going on, and no other computers to pop parts into to see if something is fried, I'm at a dead end. I don't know if there is a piece of hardware that doesn't work or what, but obviously **it's being sold as-is**. I have the user manuals for the CPU, DVD drive, case, graphics card, power supply, and motherboard. Other than that, I can't promise I'll be able to find all the loose ends (boxes, papers, cables and parts I didn't need), although I believe most or all of the case parts are inside a storage bin inside the case itself (it came with the case, which is pretty sweet). It does not come with a monitor. I can toss in some crappy five cent keyboard and MS mouse I have, and Ubuntu CDs, if you need them (although I doubt anyone here does). I'm looking for 1k; parts would cost about 1200 to buy new, and I spent at least 1800 on it. Unless whatever isn't working is the CPU, you should have no problem replacing it and still getting it at a good price. I should be able to show it to anyone interested any reasonable time this weekend or next week. It can be plugged in to show it's current state of working and lack-thereof if you're interested. Keep in mind that it is a very large case, so if you have problems carrying heavier or larger items, you might want to get a friend to help you get it out of your car and into your house.

Does Linux have a CMOS Setup Application, possibly from a LiveCD?

I've got a PIII-1Ghz system which I'd like to use until it dies. Right now it works fine, except that the rear PS/2 ports seem not to work. This is a recent development, as the computer worked fine with a PS/2 keyboard and mouse up until I moved it from the basement office into the living room (I just acquired a used TV with a VGA port on the back). I'm using it right now to type this message because when the motherboard gets past the point where I can use CMOS Setup (pressing Del), the motherboard recognizes a USB keyboard and USB mouse even before an OS loads. Pressing DEL to get into the onboard CMOS Setup utility does work from the USB keyboard. However, the onboard CMOS setup utility apparently only recognizes a PS/2 keyboard and not a USB keyboard, because once inside the CMOS utility the keyboard keys don't function. The only way out of the CMOS Setup screen is the power button on the computer. In Ye Olden Days of PC/MS/DRDOS, there were CMOS Setup Utilities which could be run from special boot disks. If such an application still exists, and works for modern CMOSes/BIOSes, I suspect that it is the only way I'm going to be able to change the system time on this computer, or more to the point tell the motherboard BIOS that the Legacy Keyboard option is disabled. Such a Catch-22: because the PS/2 keyboard doesn't work, I can't tell the BIOS that the PS/2 keyboard doesn't work, so that it should accept a USB keyboard when editing CMOS so I can tell it that the PS/2 keyboard doesn't work. This is really frustrating because I know every other component on the system works. I've successfully installed Ubuntu Linux 7.10 without a hitch on this same PC. I just want to make some basic changes to the CMOS/BIOS, but I can't until I figure out how to get into CMOS Setup without a PS/2 keyboard. ____________________________________________________________________________________ OMG, Sweet deal for Yahoo! users/friends:Get A Month of Blockbuster Total Access, No Cost. Linux functional equal to Novell SFT concept. Is there a ready to use and "Free" version

Recently several situations have come up where a Linux based incarnation of the old Novell SFT would be valued. SFT seems to make more sense than ever for high $ per minute situations. What can we do to replicate this in Linux? A concise explanation of the concept is: http://www.linktionary.com/s/sft.html. Want to tweak my system? (paying gig)

Hi all, I posted many weeks back about a server I've got that's incorrectly reporting available space. I'll spare everyone the rehash except to say: I'd like it fixed, and I'd like to pay one of you smart folks to do it. Scope: . SSH in . Figure out why a drive with 250 gb of space only shows 125gb or so . Figure out if it can be fixed non-destructively (i.e., without removing all the data on there now) . If it were addressed only to you, it would have been because I felt sorry for your insufficient answer and that I wished to fill you in so that you could amend your previous message to the list, saving face, and appear more useful/knowledgeable to the other members by citing actual, googleable names like IPMI, rather than "requires hardware" from "Someone", and by being a little bit more correct. But it wasn't, because I do understand how to operate the internets. And speaking of more specific useful information, the pci KVMoIP card is called a MegaRAC G2, though there are later models with more bells and whistles.
