OT: IBM SCSI Drive

Anyone have a IC35L036UWD210-0 laying around? It's a 36.7 GB IBM Ultra 160 Wide 68-pin SCSI drive. Someone I know had a drive fail and they need the data off the drive. I was interested in a) buying the drive or b) swapping the circuit board to see if I can get the data off drive and then giving your circuit board back. I'll pay you for the trouble for swapping whether it works or not. Please respond to me personally and provide a contact # if I can contact you. Regards, Paul

One of the folks from the KC Sportbike forums is a human resource manager and is looking for some geeks. Text Editors

I realize I could be initiating a religious war here, but I'm at my wits end. I've been working in Ruby lately, which has been going really well, but I'm having trouble finding an editor that fits me needs (or wants, I guess). Here's what I'm looking for: Syntax Highlighting Line Numbers File Browser that automatically updates with file system changes while the program is running Some Code Completion (not neccessary, but nice) It seems like these are easy requests, but it's the file browser that keeps killing off editors. I've tried both the EMACS and VI Rudy plugins and found both to be lacking. Not to mention the extremely unintuitive nature of both editors (to my mind at least). For Code completion, I'm just looking for simplicity, really. For example, when I time a ' " ' just add the closing one. Automatic tabs is another completion feature that is really handy. I've found TextMate, which only runs on Mac OS X. It fits my needs perfectly, but the mac I have access to is extremely slow, and I'm probably not going to have access to it for very long. Does anyone know of any editor that can meet my needs? It doesn't matter what platform of the three (Linux, Mac OS X, or Windows). I've tried to many and google has long ago quit spitting out good results. Thanks for your time, Josh

I like how Monty thinks on this and I'd go $30-40/hour also. What you have to remember when figuring a rate to charge is that if this was your only business, you would have to pay for health insurance for yourself on top of getting a salary. This almost always comes out to double the hourly rate you would make if you were an employee. But, if you are a sole proprietor and working on multiple contracts, they each pay a portion of this to get your services. This makes sense because they only need 1/3, 1/2 or some other fraction of your time. It is then up to you to fill the rest of your time slots. I personally like a full-time contract or reg. employment, but you can make this work and occasionally make more money. SBC Internet and ISDN for big business

Hey, we have SBC calling us they are offering a compeditive bid to beat our other lowest bid. They are including Internet 512 or Full T-1. What do you think of their internet. I know there DSL is not the best esp when it comes to email. I keep my own email server, but have my systems relay out through the ISP's. Currently we have SBC dsl & UUNET sDSL. SBC does not work for us for email. UUNET sDSL does. I guess we could just keep our server running and fully use it. or given the price, keep a second ISP as a backup in general. Off Topic

I am looking to create a small buisness linux package consisting of small buisness server and client software. There are clearly some linux packages that stand out from others and work well in a buisness environment. Some examples are Open Office, Mozilla Suite, Apache Web Server, LAMP, etc. I work from a user perspective most of the time. I can install and configure most linux software. I have found the task of reading, configuration, and writing scripts tedious and sometimes very time consuming. I am better at project coordination, implementation and completion. I am interested in indivduals who are interested in the possiblity of future contract work. I would like to know your strengths and examples of work (ie, web client). Contact me off list for details.
