Tablets with real video cards?

I'm more an AMD man than an Intel man on the desktop, but I'm not willing to go that route on a laptop. That said, though, I am also highly unwilling to buy anything with an Intel/S3/VIA GPU as I may be stuck w/o my gaming rig in the near future. Can anyone recommend a tabletpc w/nvidia gpu & Intel proc that's actually available in US markets? I can't find anything at all, which seems just nuts to me. -Sean

A couple of people have indicated that I should clarify this: What I'm looking for is someone with time available to take on supporting this site, given the server situation, and the fact that they need occasional tech support. People who are looking for full time work really aren't suitable, because they'll eventually be unavailable. People who don't want to babysit XP boxes would be unhappy. Someone who's building or running a consulting tech support operation would be ideal, or other doing other small-job consulting would be ideal. Someone like I was a year ago, or like Dale Beams with a bunch of different part-time tasks would do too.

The Cube Efffect [was: Yanking the Window Shade]

Doing the proper thing and starting a new thread instead. I've heard much of the famed cube effect, and I think I have an adequately powerful test box on which to run it. I'd like to setup the cube effect on my test box in time for an installfest i'm holding at school this Saturday (morning). What are the keywords I need to google? Test Box Vitals: * Core2Duo 2.2GHz (might be slightly more, can't remember) * 2 GB of 800MHz DDRAM (maxed out for mobo) * nVIDIA Geforce 8400 GS 256MB DDR2 PCI-E * Fedora 8 (updated) * Nvidia binary driver installed Arthur Pemberton -- Fedora 7 : sipping some of that moonshine ( www.pembo13.com )

Suggestions for a Linux LiveCD which is command-line only?

I had a motherboard die on me recently. I had a spare machine with no OS and a spare hard drive, so I booted up KNOPPIX on the spare machine and set up the system to copy files off the dead computer's hard drives onto the backup hard drive. After about 24 hours only 15GB had copied between the two hard drives, with 30GB to go. I assume that KNOPPIX's heavy memory use was slowing down the file transfer, and I think I need a CLI-only LiveCD. The most commonly used tools I need for such a LiveCD are network capability (including DHCP client), Samba support for mounting Samba shares on other machines, and "mc" to make copying functions easier, such as for Windows filenames with lots of spaces. Photoshop CS/CS2 should now work in Wine [0.9.54] -- do you think we'll be seeing more people switch?

I've heard a lot of people say they would switch to Linux, if it weren't for such and such a program not being ported-- in professional settings, that seemed to be very frequently Photoshop. It seems like some of the rest of CS doesn't work yet, but Photoshop is a fairly major program to have working. So for those that work in graphics design, or know those that do, does anyone know if not having ImageReady and the other programs not working still makes linux an impossible option? And have most people already adopted CS3, or could this still draw in a lot of people? Does anyone know of any companies that plan to switch over to linux now that this is working-- or any companies that have considered switching but were unable to because of this? Does anyone have experience running Photoshop through wine yet? If this is easy to set up (Wine generally isn't what most people would consider user friendly) it could be a great opportunity for some advocacy.
